Jay van der Funk

Jay van der Funk ( aka Jones, doc, FL)
comes from a musical home & grew up in the suburbs of Copenhagen - Denmark.
In ´97 the first step towards what became FLTunes, were taking, sittin in the "FunkLab" writin´ lyrics to instrumental beats from other artists. In ´98 the first real FL-tunes were made. He teamed up with a homie ( B-Buggi) and in ´99 & started a rap group called DLS. That turned out to a lot of live jobs in a period of 6 years.
Along with DLS, a new live project started, with his brother "Irok´s" rock band (Drainage / Suma).
The new collaboration called DLS All stars, the style were rap-funk-rock. DLS All stars played on & off for 5 years.

KBrouer: Bass & vocal
Slupper: Guitare
Irok: Drums
B-Buggi: Rap-vocal
Jay: Rap vocal & turntables
Jay took a break from the music for 3 years & turned back in 2009, producing & writing, the break from the music brought back some new energy and ideas.
Jay is now operating with synthesizers, drum programming & turntables, at the home studio (FLTunes).
A collab´ with Irok In 2009, leaded to the first tune were Jay rapped in english.
Later in 2009 Irok & Jay started an electronic / techno / dance project under the name "The Woodheads".
Many of the tunes (FLTunes / the woodheads) were uploaded to Icompositions ( a website for independent musicians). Thru the music at that site, he hooked up with "The Lithermans Load" and solo artist Otto Kinzel. This were the first step to a collab´ with "beats across the atlantic".
Otto Kinzel were working on a solo album with vocalist / rapper Michael Hauply-pierce (Lithermans Load), which turned out to the band called Chemical distance, who released an album 2009 called "the pain and the progress" (industrial-metal-rap).
2011, Chemical distance is in the progress of working on the 2nd album, with beats/tracks delivered from FLTunes.
Jay is now focused on the production of music / beats and deliver to different artists.
As a project on the side line Jay also working on a solo project, the love to writing and perform rap, is still there.
